Klondike Solitaire Rules
Klondike Solitaire is a popular single-player card game with the following rules:
Setup
- The game uses a standard 52-card deck.
- Seven tableau piles are dealt, with each pile starting with one card face-up, and the remaining cards placed in a stockpile.
- The goal is to move all cards to four foundation piles (one for each suit) in ascending order (Ace to King).
Tableau
- The tableau consists of seven piles. Cards in these piles are arranged so that only the top card is face-up.
- Cards must be arranged in descending order and alternating colors (red and black). For example, a red Queen can be placed on a black King.
Foundation
- Each suit must be built in ascending order, starting with the Ace (Ace, 2, 3, ..., King).
- There are four foundation piles, one for each suit.
Stock
- The stockpile contains the remaining cards that are not in the tableau or foundation.
- Cards are drawn from the stock and placed into the waste pile (a face-up pile).
- Cards from the waste pile can be played to the tableau or foundation.
Moves
- You can move a face-up card from the tableau to another tableau pile if it follows the descending order and alternating color rule.
- You can also move a King to an empty tableau pile.
- Cards from the waste pile can be played to either the tableau or foundation.
- A tableau pile can be moved in whole if it is arranged correctly (in descending order and alternating colors).
Winning
- The game is won when all cards are moved to the four foundation piles in ascending order, one for each suit.
The game ends when there are no more valid moves, either by exhausting the stockpile or when no more moves are possible.
